TAX DISPUTES

From assessment to final decision

When an assessment or penalty is issued, the statutory deadline and the quality of the technical file become decisive. We handle the file from the review of the assessment until a decision is issued, under the direct supervision of a partner.

THE PROCESS

Stages of the file

01

Review of the assessment or penalty

Analysing the basis and calculation of the assessment, testing the strength of the file and identifying the grounds for objection.

02

Objection to ZATCA

Preparing the objection and its supporting documents within the statutory deadline, and following it through until ZATCA issues its decision.

03

Hearings before the dispute committees

Preparing technical submissions, and attending with the taxpayer or their representative before the committees of the General Secretariat of Zakat, Tax and Customs Committees.

04

Through to the final decision

Assessing the options at each stage, including appeal, until a final decision is issued.

Matters we handle

  • VAT assessments and related penalties
  • Rejected or adjusted refund claims
  • Real Estate Transaction Tax assessments
  • Exemptions refused or withdrawn retrospectively
  • Disputes arising from audits or revaluations

A candid assessment

We give a candid assessment of the strength of the file before taking it on, and we do not promise outcomes.

Confidentiality

We do not disclose our clients or their cases, and we do not use their matters in marketing.

TIME-SENSITIVE MATTERS

Statutory deadlines are fixed.

When an assessment or penalty is issued, it is best to get in touch as early as possible so that the file can be reviewed before the objection period ends.
